Population of Sapporo City
Sapporo City is located in the central region of Hokkaido, Japan. It is the capital of Hokkaido and the seat of the Ishikari Promotion Bureau. It is also one of the cities designated by government ordinances. With a population of over 1.95 million, it is the largest city in Hokkaido and the fifth most populous city in Japan. It contains 35% of the population of Hokkaido, and the Sapporo metropolitan area contains about half of the population of Hokkaido.

Sapporo City was divided into 10 districts after it was upgraded to a government-designated city in 1972. They are Central District, North District, East District, Baishi District, Fengping District, South District, West District, Hoobee District, Tedao District and Qingtian District. Among them, the northern, eastern, and central areas account for the largest proportion of the population, accounting for 12%-15% of the total population of Sapporo.
